REMINDERS
Check Compass for regularly for excursions, school events and reminders
If your child is wearing a hoodie underneath their school t-shirt they will be asked to take off the hood if it is on their head. We are happy to accommodate this when it is cold especially, but if students refuse to take of their hoods as we have seen numbers of in recent weeks, we will ask them to remove the hoodie. If they refuse to do this parents will be called to come down to the school and collect the hoodie. If you need to purchase a new jumper, please give the office a call. We have some second hand ones available at a much reduced price also.
Book Week
This week we celebrated Book Week with the theme “Book An Adventure.” Across the school, students explored stories from this year’s Children’s Book Council of Australia Awards, sparking rich discussions and creative learning activities.
Rotary Shepparton Central had organised a wonderful Book Fair where students were able to select many books to take home, for free, to add to their collections. We hope families spend some quality time reading together over the weekend. Our wonderful Kinder kids came over to share morning tea and shop for their books yesterday and everyone else did so today.
Today, we finished the week with our much-loved Book Week Parade. The creativity and imagination on display in costumes were fantastic, with students and staff alike bringing characters to life and celebrating their love of reading.
At Gowrie Street, we know that every book is an adventure—and this week reminded us just how powerful stories are in inspiring curiosity, creativity, and joy in learning. See pictures at the bottom of the news.
Attendance
We are sitting lower than we were last week for students who have had 90%+ attendance. Well done to families who have achieved this this week. We understand there is a bit of illness going around and we thank all of the families who have called to let us know each day if their child is unwell. If you need support getting your children to school, please reach out and we can work together to support every child to be at school, on time, each day! Call the office or email Bron our Wellbeing leader to make an appointment- bronwyn.huggard@education.vic.gov.au
Next week you will receive information about our ATTENDANCE CELEBRATION if your child is on track to attend! We have four weeks until the end of term!
