Athletics Day
Yesterday we held our annual Athletics Day at Gowrie Street, and what a wonderful day it was! The sun was shining, the atmosphere was buzzing, and it was fantastic to see so many families coming along to cheer on their children.
Every student gave their best effort and participated with great enthusiasm, determination, and teamwork. From running races to field events, there was plenty of excitement, lots of cheering, and plenty of smiles.
Congratulations to Mawamatj (Red) for being winning the day.
A big thank you to Mr McCormick for organising such a smooth and enjoyable day, and to our families for their support. Days like this remind us of the strength of our school community and the pride we share in celebrating our students’ achievements.

Attendance Celebration
At Gowrie Street, we are working hard to lift the number of students attending school 90% or more of the time. We’re pleased to share that we’ve made some progress! This time last year, 52% of our students were attending above 90%. Today, that number has grown to 58%, which is also an improvement on last term’s 47%.
We know that being at school every day is so important for learning, friendships, and future success. Next term, we’ll be celebrating not only students who achieve 90% or more attendance, but also those who make a 20% improvement from this term.
Our Term 3 attendance celebration today was incredible! It was wonderful to see so many families come along to celebrate—and to BE celebrated. Thank you for your ongoing support in helping every child be at school, every day. We value so much the partnership
Term 3 Wrap Up
What a huge and exciting term it has been at Gowrie Street! Our students have had so many opportunities to learn, grow, and celebrate together, and we’re proud of the way they have embraced every experience.
This term we have enjoyed:

Book Week – celebrating the theme “Book an Adventure” with reading, creativity, and fun.
Father’s Day/Special Person’s Day Breakfast – a beautiful morning shared with families and friends.

Language Program Open Day – sharing our learning with families and celebrating language and culture.
Athletics Day – a fantastic day of participation, cheering, and school spirit.
Grade 6 Lighthouse/Rotary Outings – fortnightly opportunities to grow leadership and connection with the community.
Academic Games – where our students proudly showcased their learning and problem-solving.
Grade 5–6 Excursions – to TwistED Science and Kyabram Fauna Park, bringing learning to life.
Grade 3–4 Camp in Melbourne – an amazing city adventure.
It has been a term full of pride, determination, and achievement, and it was wonderful to see so many families join us across these events. We can’t wait to see what Term 4 brings!
