REMINDERS

  • All students need to have a hat for Term 4 to play outside. If they don't have a hat they need to be undercover. If you need to order a new hat, please call the office.

  • The front of the school is a NO STANDING ZONE. This means there is no stopping there at any time! We have had a number of close calls this week, with buses almost colliding with cars that are stopped there. Please follow the parking signs and park further along Gowrie St or even better, in the two car parks we have.

  • If your phone number has changed, please let the office know. It is important that we are able to contact families in emergencies.

  • Please use Compass or give us a call to let us know if your child is away from school. It is a big job for our wonderful office staff of follow up each day. We are required to follow up every 'UNEXPLAINED' absence, every day and this can be upwards of 50 phone calls when families don't use Compass or call to let us know.

Term 4 Welcome Back

Welcome back to an exciting Term 4 at Gowrie Street Primary School. We’ve hit the ground running and are already diving straight into some fantastic learning across all year levels.

Our school values of Empathy, Pride, Determination, and Excellence continue to guide everything we do — in the classroom, in the yard, and out in the community. It’s been wonderful to see our Grade 3–6 students showing these values in action as they’ve proudly represented our school at the Interschool Athletics each day since Tuesday. Their teamwork, effort, and sportsmanship have been outstanding!

Term 4 is always a busy term and this year it is no different. We have a lot on!

Stay tuned for information about our end-of-year performance.

Make sure you are checking the Compass calendar for up-and-coming events.

We’re looking forward to a great term of learning, growth, and celebration as we finish the year strong — together.

Term 4 Attendance

At Gowrie Street Primary School, we know that every day counts. When students attend school regularly, they build strong learning habits, friendships, and confidence.

This term, we’re continuing to work together as a school community to increase the number of students attending 90% or more of the time — and we’re also celebrating progress and improvement!

Students who have 90% attendance or higher, and those who have made significant improvement (up to a 20% increase or enough to reach 90%), will be invited to our Term 4 Attendance Celebration.

To have 90% attendance as of Tuesday 7th October, students can have no more than 5 days away from school for the term.

Please remember that students arriving after 10am are marked as a half-day absence, so being on time each day makes a difference. If your child is unwell and away for an extended period, we ask that you provide a medical certificate. The Dpeartment of Education counts sick days as absences but we will make an exception for the celebration with a medical certificate.

At Gowrie Street, our values of Empathy, Pride, Determination, and Excellence guide everything we do — including how we show up each day. We are so proud of our students who demonstrate determination by coming to school regularly, pride in their learning, empathy by supporting their peers, and excellence through consistent effort.

Last term, we were thrilled to celebrate attendance success with our families and to present certificates recognising students’ effort and commitment. It was a wonderful moment of pride for our whole community.

To support our students this term, we are:

• Talking about the importance of regular attendance.

• Helping each student set a personal attendance goal.

• Sending home an attendance calendar to track progress.

• Celebrating attendance improvements – see our invitation on the back of the calendar!

We understand that sometimes absences can’t be avoided. If your child is finding it hard to attend regularly, please reach out — we’re here to help.

Thank you for working with us to make sure every student gets the most out of their learning. With your support, we can finish the year strong and continue to celebrate our students’ success together.
