Cross Country
We were lucky to enjoy a beautiful day down along The Boulevard for our annual Cross Country event. The sun was shining, spirits were high, and the atmosphere was full of energy and encouragement.
We were thrilled to have 30 families join us, with many bringing extended family members to cheer on their children. It was wonderful to see our school community come together in such a positive and supportive way.
Our students truly embodied the Gowrie St values of Determination and Empathy throughout the event. Whether they were pushing themselves to finish the course or cheering on their classmates, the support and encouragement they showed one another was inspiring. Some even ran alongside their peers to give them that extra boost to the finish line!
It was a fantastic day filled with heart, effort, and community pride. Thank you to all the families who came along and helped make it so special and a special shout out to Mr McCormick for all his work putting the event together.
The points tally for the day was:
First- Yellow/ Yuringa on 78 points
Second- Red/ Mawamatj on 67 points
Third- Green/ Duran on 66 points
Fourth Blue/Bata on 60 points
Gregg Dreise Visit
We were incredibly lucky to welcome celebrated author, illustrator, musician and storyteller Gregg Dreise to Gowrie St Primary School.

Gregg ran engaging and entertaining workshops for all our students throughout the day. He shared stories from his books, played the didgeridoo, sang songs, and spoke powerfully about culture, creativity, and connection. His energy and warmth had everyone—students and staff alike—laughing, listening, and learning. He shared some language and we shared some language and he spent some time with students in Manega at recess yarning and painting.
As if that wasn’t enough, Gregg stayed after the workshops to leave a lasting gift for our school—two beautiful animals painted onto our mural.
The joy and inspiration he brought to our school was unforgettable. The children and adults absolutely loved it. We are so grateful for the chance to connect with such a talented artist and storyteller.
